Deegan Dominates Surprise AZ!

Corona, Ca – The “General” Brian Deegan competed last weekend in Rounds 3 & 4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Last month Deegan had a disappointing season opener in the Unlimited Lites Class, running out of gas in the final laps of Round 2. This time the crew triple checked everything to ensure no errors would cost Deegan another race. On Friday, Deegan qualified in 2nd place .531 seconds off veteran racer Marty Hart. Starting Saturday on the inside Deegan jumped to the front of the pack quickly and after multiple red and yellow flags continued to lead the remainder of the race locking down a 1st place podium finish. Due to the performance of his truck, rival teams raised concerns that Deegan’s truck had been modified in some way. During tech inspection, the truck was stripped down and found to be legal making Deegan out to be one of the toughest competitors to beat in the Off Road series.
“Need to get back on the top of the podium. Honestly what motivated me the most was I sit around for a month straight looking at these trucks in my shop, I’m like there’s way too much time and effort that goes into this and too much money not to win this race”
Sunday was yet another hot day in Surprise, AZ but that didn’t stop the fans from coming out to watch Deegan get behind the wheel and lock down another podium finish. Deegan started off qualifying in 4th position behind Marty Hart and rival Chris Brandt. As the wind picked up and the stadium filled with fans, Deegan was ready to put it all on the line and give the crowd a race to remember. Starting out in 3rd position, the green flag dropped and Deegan jumped to the front of the pack early on. Once again, he found himself setting the pace for the remainder of the race. On the last turn of the last lap Deegan held his line, however, rival Chris Brandt clipped Deegan’s inside rear pushing Deegan to the outside for a 2nd place podium finish. During the post race interview segments Deegan had this to say:
“It came down to the last turn, he bumped me out of the way there was really nothing I could do. I was on the inside holding my line he just pushed me out of the way so I say its payback, bring it on!”

Considered by many to be one of the best races of the weekend, Deegan summed it up on the podium by saying:
“It was a good battle, that’s racing. Pretty much that’s why I come here is to entertain the crowd, so hopefully that was entertaining.”
Well said by an icon who has accomplished a great deal in his career both in Freestyle Motocross and Off-Road Short Course Racing. Deegan has long time friend and fellow Off Road racer Danny Ebberts to thank for the performance of his truck last weekend. Taking over for the 2010 season as crew chief, Ebberts and his Crew are more than ready to defend Deegan’s 2009 Off Road Championship. If you missed last weekends race, be sure to tune into Speed TV on these dates to catch all the racing action.
